Rockbridge County and the surrounding areas are technically nestled in the James River Basin even though it is often referred to as being in the Shenandoah Valley.
That particular distinction is debatable but the reality is that this beautiful valley is enclosed by ancient mountains on both sides. The Blue Ridge Mountains are to the east and the Allegheny Mountains to the west. Both ridges are part of the Appalachian Mountain Chain that runs from Canada to Alabama. The valley is amply watered by many lakes and streams with a generous amount of forests and grasslands.
If you are looking for a place to settle in this scenic area, whether it be atop a hill in the county or in one of the many historic towns or hamlets, Hunter McClung can help you make that match in a way this is most satisfying and pleasurable.
